These were compatible with my old pre-lit National Tree with clear incandescent lights. All of the bulbs worked and look the exact same as the originals in brightness and hue. They come in a handy plastic case. Do double-check the tag on your light string to see that the volts and watts match. The bulbs also have shunts (thin coil of wire at the base) that should almost always kick in when the filament of a bulb eventually burns out, so that the rest of the string stays lit, which is essential.I previously tried buying replacement bulbs from National Tree, but they made the husk design smaller in 2021, so these standalone bulbs were ideal and much cheaper (100 for $9 v.s. $52 from the manufacturer).Tips for replacing lights: I tried using a contactless current reader to narrow down the burnt bulbs but it was too sensitive to use on my pre-lit tree. If you notice burnt bulbs, replace them immediately because burnt bulbs cause a voltage increase which dramatically shortens the life of other bulbs on the string. I ended up taking out all 50 lights in the string, testing each on a working string, replacing burnt bulbs with these using the original husks, then placing the 50 working bulbs back in. This was tedious but worked. Or you may be able to just identify dead bulbs by checking if the filament is broken. But so many of mine were dead in the string (>90%) that taking them all out worked better. The relief when you plug in the string and it finally works 😌These are great for replacing one-off burnt bulbs. If your whole string is out, it’s harder to ID burnt bulbs and you might want to buy a new string. But if you’re patient and have an hour to burn, you can get any string working again.

I have a 10' string of lights that I bought about 15 years ago. I kept the box and the voltage rating of the bulbs wasn't listed. I also have an 18' string of lights that I bought about 3 years ago and it said 2.5V bulb on the box. Both were made by Holiday Time. Both have 50 bulbs per segment: 120V/50 bulbs = 2.5 volts per bulb. I won't bore you with the lengthy troubleshooting I went through (FYI I'm a retired electrical engineer) but the conclusion is unmistakable: the Mudder 2.5V mini bulbs work great on the 10' string but on the 18' string, the new bulbs are dim. To take Mudder bulbs out of the picture, I took a good bulb from the 10' line and put it in the 18' line: dim bulb. I took a good bulb from the 18' line and put it into the 10' line and it blew out immediately. I see that in the summary of the critiques there were a few more positives than negatives but they were both pretty close to 50% which further substantiates the idea that there are at least 2 different kinds of lines from Holiday Time. I plan on calling their tech support to understand what the difference is and what kind of bulb I need for my 18' line.

I replaced all the lights in Sponge Bob with these and they seemed extra bright but I thought nothing of it. Then he stopped working after a couple of days and I noticed all the bulbs were blackened a bit due to high heat and four of the 29 bulbs were burned out. Turns out the tag on the plug specifies 3.5V, .56 watts for replacement bulbs and these are 2.5V, .42 watts. I left a 5 star review because all the bulbs worked when I got them but didn't use them for the correct application.

I have several sets of icicle lights in permanent use. I have been replacing bulbs as they go with bulbs from another set but obviously, that is not sustainable. I bought these to put in the husks from the bulbs I have removed. Unfortunately, on testing the first one, it was very dim (though the rest of the bulbs light when it's replaced). Measuring, my old bulbs are about 5 Ohms and these are about 2.5 Ohms (it is hard to get a steady reading). They might work fine if a whole run of ten was replaced in one go but the ten would be brighter. These bulbs burn using about twice the power of the original bulbs and I would expect their lifetime to be reduced commensurately.In complete fairness, the specs of the bulbs are very clear in the product listing and the seller includes instructions in the product listing for ensuring the buyer picks the correct bulbs so I have removed no stars for what was my error. I have made my review in the hope of helping others avoid my mistake and, with any luck, saving the seller from bad reviews that might arise from others making similar errors.

Had a pre lit Christmas tree from 15 years ago that half the lights were out. Tree was still in perfect condition. We ordered these based on the lights number. They fit perfectly and worked. We were smart to order a box with a large number of spares for future years. Worth the price to fix rather than buy a whole new tree.

I had over a hundred burned out bulbs and was about to invest in a new tree, but I decided to invest my time in replacing the bulbs instead. I admit, it took time; you need to first remove the old bulb and plastic base from the light strand, then remove the old bulb from the base, then insert the wires of the new bulb into the base, and finally plug the base back into the socket on the light strand. I used colored clothespins to mark the place on my tree and only removed a few at a time. It was a bit of a process, but worth it. Most of my ornaments are wired on and it would have been a lot of work to remove the decorations and reapply to a new tree. Not to mention the expense of a new tree. I was also happy to not add my old tree to the landfill. I purchased another set to have on hand as more bulbs burn out. It will be much easier to replace individual bulbs here and there.

I use these replacement bulbs every year at Christmas when I take my tree out. Just from storing it every year I have a bunch go out. I’ve been doing this for a couple years now. They definitely work and they’re easy to replace. The fit is great. This was a whole lot cheaper than me buying a new tree just for a few bulbs being out.

Edit: I moved the remaining original bulbs all in to the same sections. That left one section with a lot of the dim bulbs and about 10 original that were now super bright. Once I replaced the last original bulbs with the new ones the news bulbs performed the same as the originals. Odd problem to have but I guess a result of cheap manufacturing where there is no standard for 2.5V bulbs. I upped my rating to four stars as they now work but this should really be in some instructions or in the description of the listing. .Have an icicle string with 4 sections of 50 bulbs, so 2.4V each. I replaced about 10 bulbs in two sections, The replacement bulbs light up but really dim. I am going to try putting all new bulbs in one section and joining the old bulbs in the other section, will report back if better results.I also used these on a 24V adapter with 9 bulbs (2.6V each and they worked a charm. Technically they should work fine on 2.4V as well but not so much. So 3 stars.

these allowed me to re-use my burnt-out christmas lights instead of throwing them in the garbage. very easy to install these replacement bulbs. just be sure you use these bulbs with a 50-bulb set only. otherwise they will likely not work or cause all the lights to burn out

These work great ! No need to find the same replacement with base. Just use these to replace burnt out incandescent mini bulbs. I had no idea these were available, until I saw them on amazon when I was looking for the exact replacement with base and could not find any.
