Works great on my 65 Mustang 289 hi-po
I bought this because the Ignitor II kit didn't work with my aftermarket distributor. This distributor has GM style cap and centrifugal spark advance. The cap is a little larger where it attaches to the distributor. Because of this I had to modify the bracket that supports my factory air compressor but other than that it fit fine. I also bought the coil and power relay to get 12 volts to the coil and by pass the pink wire resistor. Timing is no where the stock initial timing should be. I started at the sock setting and kept test driving and advancing until the engine runs best, starts easy and doesn't ping. The initial timing mark is off the scale so I measured from the vacuum advance to the air conditioning compressor as a reference. I have only had this installed for a few days so I can't tell about the reliability issues in some of the posts. I intend on carrying a spare Ignitor II replacement unit, tools to replace and a length of jumper wire in my car in case. The wire is to jump from the battery to the coil in case the relay quits. This unit made my engine rus so much better it's worth whatever it takes to make it work.

Great
This is a beautiful polished billet aluminum distributor that bolts right in on my 1971 Convertible Mustang with a 302 V8. The entire car is being rebuilt to include the motor and this particular distributor was recommended by several mechanices to include the one building my motor now. I love using Amazon each and every time that it is possible, I have had nothing but excellent service even when I had a damaged item, the whole return process was painless. Amazon, as long as you have competitive prices and excellent service, you will have my business.

Fixed!
Installed in a 1970 Mustang with a 302. The original distributor wasn’t providing a good spark, even after new points, rotor, cap, coil, and wires. Installed the new Pertronix unit and the car starts immediately, idles perfectly, and revs freely. I am extremely satisfied with this product. Note: for this engine, I had to hook the vacuum advance to port vacuum. Some reviews suggested using manifold vacuum, but that caused my timing to immediately advance, even at idle, causing a very high idle rpm. Using port vacuum (which is recommended by Pertronix) fixed this.

garbage
First neg review ever written. Sent email to Pertronix and no reply. Ran 20 miles then started stuttering under load. Died in garage. Module tested bad. Pulled apart and ordered a new one for $170 from Summit. Original module had red wire insulation cut just under base plate. Get a new module and no spark. Bench tested and constant 12v which according to their youtube means bad. Using Pertronix coil as recommended and ohm reads correct at 1.5. Relay hot feed stays 12v constant under crank and "on". Negative direct to battery -. Got a third module and still no spark. Absolute POS. Should have listened to what others said on here about Pertronix. 2 weeks screwing around with this. Of course made in China, bought a cheap HEI for SBF instead...cant be any worse

Not Quite A Direct Replacement
Easy electrical connections and operation. One downside, the housing is larger than the OEM. For me, this resulted in having to obtain a new thermostat housing to relocate the temp sensor. The Pertronix unit would not fully seat otherwise.

Excellent distributor
Needed a new distributor for the Mustang. I've had a Pertronix in my other hot rod for 16 years now. Figured the Pertronix would be the way to go. This model has a little larger diameter housing that a stock Ford distributor. I had to grind a little on my #1 intake runner to allow the distributor to seat, if you look closely at the photo you will see the green marker line and the fresh grind marks. When it dropped in, set timing, lock it down and done. The Pertronix D134600 with the cast housing may have dropped right in, it appears to have stock dimensions from picture comparisons.

Best money I ever spent on a car
I am restoring a 1965 Mercury Comet with a 289. I had got the car running, but it never ran well. Overheated, ran rough, no power. I tried every timing trick in the book and replaced nearly everything under the hood but the motor itself. I decided to give this electronic distributor a shot. WOW!!!! The car is running like new now! This is a GREAT investment for making an older car run well.
