DeLonghi Kmix 2-Slice Toaster, Blue

We replaced a high-end toaster which died on us shortly after purchase, and took a chance on the Delonghi. What a great find. The toast comes out perfectly and it is so easy to operate. The color is also fabulous!! If you don't mind spending a few extra bucks, it is well worth the investment.

While this is a slick looking toaster, it is poorly made. We started to have problems with it almost immediately where it would not heat both sides of the bread on a consistent basis (sometimes yes...sometimes no). Now, in less than 2 years, it heats up to to a very low degree and we are left with warm soft bread instead of toast. We do not recommend purchasing this product.

Finally a toaster with color! This is a great addition to the kitchen with attitude. First a few specifics. The slots are about 1 inch wide and 5 inches long which appears to be wider than the average toaster. The toasts pops up after it is done but there is no "ding" or alarm sound which I am okay with anyway. The lever is heavy duty rubber around solid metal which should last the life of the toaster. The crumb tray which is also metal is easy to pull out and clean. The cord is about three feet in length. It has a nice convenient cord wrap under the toaster to keep the cord out of the way. It has a nice "peek" feature which lets you check on the progress of your toast without stopping it, all you have to do is lift the lever to check on it. The dial setting is a little hard to see but works well. Some would say having an all metal toaster would make it untouchable because it would get too hot however this is not the case. It may get warm but will not burn your hands. The only area where it could get hot is around the slots which I never touch anyway, kind of a no brainer if you ask me. I disagree with some reviews that say the toaster burns the toast. It is highly subjective and it depends on what you are toasting and how thick it is. I mean what do you expect? A toaster that has only one setting? I make my own bread and don't buy the standard slices from the store but I have found even the lowest setting won't burn the toast. I have had this toaster for about a month and it has not let me down yet. It is well built out of metal and solid. No cheapy plastic parts here. It is a bit pricey but the color and quality makes it worth it. It is a great little toaster that toasts other toasters if you know what I mean.

I like the toaster and it looks great. I like that it hugs the bread when toasting. The only thing is that the slices of bread to not fit and they stick out of the top. I guess it all depends on what bread you are toasting. If you have the standard white bread then I would think it would fit and toast perfectly. I use rye bread and the slices tend to be larger. Also, you have to toast a few slices before you get to where you want the adjustment. I first put it in the middle and it toasted very dark. But that is an easy thing to adjust. Overall I like the toaster very much and would recommend it. I also like that it has the warming tray even though I haven't used it yet but would be good if you have guests and put a few pieces of toast out at a time.

After owning this for maybe three months, the lever stopped going down effortlessly. I take really good care of stuff in my kitchen, which is why I try to invest in high quality equipment, and I only use it maybe once a week, so it's unbelievable to me that it deteriorated so quickly. Now I have to push the lever down anywhere from three to ten times to get it to stay down. Once it has, it does toast somewhat evenly. But it's incredibly irritating to deal with that lever--it's an inconvenience I'd overlook in a toaster that costs thirty bucks, but one that costs a hundred!? Nuh-uh. It only gets two stars because it is pretty and does, eventually, toast.

The color is definitely more magenta than hot pink. The color that shows up on my Ipad is exactly the color of the actual toaster. The toaster works ok, but it is missing a lot of functionality and it doesn't toast evenly. Also, I find it very difficult to read the markings on the toaster, they are small and the symbols and the background are both silver. Because I bought this strictly for the color, and it was a great deal, I am happy with the purchase

We have had this for some time now. It works great. I love the lift up feature. The crumb tray sliding out the front is nice too. It matches the red of our stand mixer, an extra bonus for us. The warmer rack works or making mutable batches and all being warm at serving. we use it on 3 or 3 1/2 setting. if you bread is really thin use a lower setting. We make most of our own bread, this toaster has wide slots and let us make a nice thick piece of toast.

Favorite toaster ever. Compact, sturdy, very attractive, incredibly easy to use, and easy to clean. My favorite feature is the lever that allows you to lift the toast in the middle of the toasting process to check on the progress. Sometimes I wish I could make a grilled cheese, but then again, you'd be shopping for a toaster oven if that's what you wanted. Would highly recommend this.
