Excellent - Except for 1 Major Theme
I have been reading Whitley's work since I was 12 years old, in the 6th grade, when a book was handed to me as if by fate by a younger child on the school bus. He had accidentally ended up with the book "Transformation" and gave it to me, although he never read it himself and I had never read any alien books before this. I just purchased "The Key" because I felt an impending need to advance my spiritual awareness with something new. I get this impending desire and every year or so, when this desire hits me, I have to read non stop for several weeks until I feel sufficiently balanced with new information. The Key really exceeded my expectations. Strieber's writing is so compassionate and humble, and yet very articulate and intelligent. Most male authors are hard to follow because they write with too much intellectualism, and not enough sympathy for their reader. Strieber is incredibly intelligent, and has a way with words, but he writes with respect for his audience, in a way that is at once eloquent, and yet simple enough to understand for people who don't normally read at an extremely high level. (I don't read novels and so I have trouble with some male authors who tend to write with too many complex words crammed together which tends to bludgeon the senses and distract the reader from the content or message). I always find myself gliding through Strieber's work, as his writing has a clear fluidity. I feel calm and happy having read his work, as he is a true artist with his words. Now, onto to the content of this book. I have read supernatural books and alien books since I was 12. I am 29 now. I have many years of being exposed to very large subjects and I have spent many years having brief out of body experiences, time travel dreams, precognition, telepathy, and other strange paranormal events, including sleep paralysis, clear observations of a silent flying triangle with no lights on it, video tape footage of flying black orbs that I had dreamed about the night before I video taped them. I believe I have encountered spiritual beings of other dimensions myself. I have also read the work of Stewart Swerdlow, Dolores Cannon, Ashayanna Deanne, Barbara Marciniak, and Esther Hicks, which I recommend reading all of these authors. I have listed to Alex Collier, Charles Hall, Bob Dean, Bob Lazar, David Icke, and others who talk of reptilian control, or other strange things happening on Earth. Well, in summar, this book, The Key fits with everything I have ever read or learned. Most books immediately strike me as being wrong in so many ways, and packed with inaccurate information that cannot be corroborated. This is not the case with Striebers book. It actually summarizes the process of the soul in a way that agrees with many other books I have read. I immediately took a liking to this book and read it in 1 day, every page was extremely fascinating, although it's not a very large book, and certainly not a novel, but the content is more rich and concentrated than any small book I have ever read. Specifically the information about the soul, reincarnation and the ability to form a radiant body or astral body that is permanent, all coincides and agrees with the work of Dolore Cannon and Ashayanna Deanne. Dolores Cannon just published a new book, called "The Convoluted Universe - Part 4" that actually indicates the same principles, that some people here on Earth are not useful people, they are so controlled, that their soul has no been allowed to form a radiant body, and when they die, they do not have sufficient energy to maintain their own indemnity, and will instead be fused back into creation, lost forever as a fragment. However, some of us, about 50% of the people who have lived on Earth, have been able to form a permanent radiant body. What this means is that people who are asleep and who seem brain washed, really are lost souls. These people need help, and I have always sensed that, but now after reading this book and seeing the information corroborated with Dolores Cannon's books, and Ashayanna Deanes books, I feel that people who are close minded are truly facing the possibility of being destroyed, and lost forever, and these people, if they are to continue on into an afterlife, and get a chance at being either reborn or allowed to continue on in the form of an astral being, they need to open their minds. Now, this book contains some problems. One problem is that the person Strieber encounters never outright says he is not a machine. He answers Strieber's inquiry about this matter by saying "If I was a machine I would deceive you." Some of the words in this book therefore, could be a deception, although my gut feeling is that most of it is all correct. What strikes me as being incorrect, is the notion that Humans come from primates who were forced to evolve because of natural pressure. In Dolores' books, Swerdlows interviews, Icke's research, Ashayanna's books, and other material, it is clearly indicated that Human life didn't start on Earth, Earth is a colony that was started by reptilians and original humans from Lyra, and the current Human form is a hybrid of reptilian and mammalian genetics, this is why we have such unstable and yet compulsive tendencies, and why it is hard to reach balance, because we are a hybrid species with 2 different baseline genetics that are always fighting for control, and these impulses make it difficult being a Human. I saw an old man recently that has perfectly formed vertical pupils and blue green eyes. I have also seen a person walking in Montana with blue eyes, and he had perfectly formed reptilian pupils. Because I've seen these people in person, it lends more credibility to the reptilian theory. Swerdlow says that reptilians were on Earth first, and are the controllers now, however they reached a compromise allowing the Human hybrid to be created. Instead of fighting for control over the planet, an agreement was made to create the current version of the Human, with genetics from both factions being shared with us. The royal bloodlines on Earth contain more reptilian genetics than ordinary citizens, and this is where the feudal system comes from, "the right to rule, based on your bloodline." In the end I am not sure what to believe, and I am open to all suggestions and this is why I enjoy reading. However, I do not entertain the idea that monkeys turned into humans naturally without intervention, and I think any book that talks about evolution and forces it upon us as being the reason for Human existence, is obviously disinformation, or misinformation. If you study the true fossil record, you will see that many archeologists have found 8 foot tall human skeletons, some being even larger than that, and many human remains have been found that far pre-date even the oldest remains of monkeys, so humans were apparently here long before primates. The actual physical evidence on Earth is completely against the process of evolution. Evolution does happen, but it doesn't create a new intelligent race of beings overnight, as is the case with Humans. Research Lloyd Pie, and the alien skull he has called the "Star Child Skull." This is a real alien skull in the possession of Lloyd Pie. Or research "Hidden Archeology" a book that has several essays written about famous discoveries that can easily disprove what is taught as "evolution." This book, The Key, is amazing and I am very glad I purchased it. But I will need to spend some time reflecting on it's meanings, and corroborating it. I would remain slightly skeptical about it, only because the person who Strieber met does indeed have a sense of negativity about him, and inspiring fear into people can cause chaos in its self, by forcing people to think about something negative, which then uses the power of the conscious mind, together collectively, to create that negative reality. Realities can be altered or made to be more probable simply by feeding a mass of people a negative thought, and this thought creates a new template of reality. So if you do read this, please keep a positive uplifted mind, do not allow it to scare you.

Choose Once Again-New energies, new choices
The Key is a transcription of a two hour late night interview of a mysterious gentleman named Michael who the author dubs as Master of the Key. It took place in Toronto, Canada in 1998. It takes up about 100 pages. This interview provided the geophysical model for ecological collapse used in Global Superstorm. Whitley's commission in this work is an outreach to a unique admixture of sci-fi fans, conspiratorialists, abductees, and sundry coast-to-coastAM listeners. This group of believers, skeptics, thrill-seekers, and eco-lovers will each read, absorb and interpret his words from a very different, often opposite, life experience. The answers are tailored so as not to exclude. If the words were to be delivered to an exclusively metaphysical audience, the clarity of wording would be able to be magnified. Also remember that Earth languages are designed to facilitate commerce, not to glorify and characterize infinity. Thus nit-picky critiques of wording are out of place both because of audience diversity and linguistic impossibility. Consider The Key to be what may be the final wakeup call for those who have the ears to hear. The author considers it to be valuable personal guidance that has proved itself year after year. Unlocking the deeper meaning of The Key requires a closer reading and inborn metaphysic than most will bring to the book. Buddhists and Vedantists will be able to turn the key. The Aquarian consciousness described by Michael is that of the energetic body. Anyone who thinks they don't have one will make a "great discovery." This shift into new consciousness can literally happen at the flip of a switch in the brain. Authors like Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, Jill Taylor and Jan Frazier have described the disorienting effect and the unexpected revaluing that can occur. The conversation speaks of the lifting of the veil between life and death. This is not a figurative reference. If you are afraid of communing with the dearly departed, it is time to regroup or you may end up creating a living hell for yourself. When Pisces pours "onto dry land" the mind may be pushed cold turkey into radically new territory. Forewarned is forearmed. Sorting this out is a tricky business. Taking a peek at books by Anthony Borgia may be in order. Life is about choice. If you neglect the Creator, and your own divine nature, there will be consequences--major short- and long-term consequences. The focus of the book is to clearly make this assertion and provide you with tools that will help. The book is many things--a prophecy, a warning, a seeming contradiction, but most of all a metaphysical message to crystallize the polarizing energies of this era. It's time to ascend to the status of radiant beings or do nothing and sink into a doubting, self-satisfied existence of the status quo. If we unite in prayer, all things are possible, otherwise we are doomed to devolve rapidly into a condition so dire there will not even be an alphabet--a totally fresh start for those who need it. Big changes are coming, big changes in consciousness, climate, economy, you name it, it will change. Soon we will all have good reason to give passionate prayer a try. Start meditating now so you will be able to keep your cool with a quiescent mind. Time is growing short. Learn to break the links of societal conditioning and emancipate yourself from inappropriate and unforgiving thoughts and inbred condemning attitudes. It is possible to lead a loving life free of the fear that breeds separation. Though Whitley's source, Michael, may be unconventional or uncommon, don't forget authors like Gary Renard and Glenda Green--miracles are the spice of life. Extended discussions with mysterious beings are both possible and unforgettable. Some may find the message flawed, but what is most flawed is human perception. There are thousands of niche authors of the past decades like Helen Schucman, Ken Carey, and Whitley Strieber who have had the moral courage to stand up to ridicule and abuse in an effort to publish metaphysical gems on the faith and inner knowing that their sources are impeccable. Tidbits from Michael: You're chained to the ground...Mankind is trapped...Man is soul-blind and God-blind...You think of yourself as different from God. This is an illusion...Surrender to God...To surrender to God is to make your energetic body transparent, so that the light of God shines through you...Surrender to God and your enemies will become your friends...It is not that man is the servant of God, but that man is God, as we all are...You must meditate. Who does not meditate, disintegrates...God is a science, the science of self-knowledge and self-discovery...Awakened man makes his own light, as part of the radiant choir who sing forever the song of God...You must live many times in order to build up a radiant body that is complete. To be born into this world takes but an hour. But to be born into the next takes many lifetime...To remain a separate being after death, there must exist the ability to maintain the structure of the radiant body by the action of attention. I'm here on behalf of the good...Those whose lives are directed toward ascension...All are responsible for all. All are dependent upon all. Humanity is one...Mankind is meant to ascend...Fear rules this world...Forgiveness is not an act, it is a state of being...Seek the kingdom within and you will find the kingdom everywhere...But if you cannot find the kingdom, you cannot gain the kingdom...Unless you bear the kingdom within you, the kingdom will perish from the earth...You can go to heaven immediately, right now, with your next breath. You can remain there forever, even while living this life. Self-will, the illusion that you can act and must act on your own behalf, prevents you from entering the will of God...Nothing is separate from God...you think of yourself as different from God. This is an illusion...The veil between the worlds can fall. The undiscovered country can become your backyard...There is no supernatural. There is only the natural world...Many of the dead...have less than you do, by a very great deal. But not all. Some are exceedingly rich...To face the return of the dead is to face the change of the age...Instinct makes you fear congress with the dead, because they see more than you dare to see. The planet is at present a death trap...The greater part of human industry and culture along with the species' most educated populations will be destroyed in a single season...It's all part of the plan of your evolution. Pisces, the little fish , will be poured onto dry land by the stream of Aquarius. Then, how will you live? How will you breathe? You will make a leap of evolution. You will square the circle or die....the mission of this age...is to open the elemental body to ecstasy...The elemental body will become transparent to the radiant body, which will shine with the light of God...The body of man is being altered so that the barrier that presently prevents you from knowing one another's thoughts will fall...The future of mankind is either to ascend or go extinct...Your surrender to earth will be your ascension to heaven. I am here to bring you a promise from on high: If you surrender yourselves to God you and the earth will be saved. Otherwise you will be extinct before the end of the age. Fascinating and problematic
The "%" marks you see in this review are reference points for the Kindle version, which is what I read. General overview The Key is a fascinating and eminently readable book written in lively and personable style. Strieber is not afraid to share some of his own fears, weaknesses and confusions. He develops an intimate relationship with the reader, and it almost seems as if we are eavesdropping in on his very strange experience with the man he calls The Master of the Key. The Key details the story of how, at two-thirty in the morning of June 6, 1998, Strieber was awakened by somebody knocking on his hotel room door. An unknown old man enters the room. At first Strieber thinks he might be a slightly deranged fan, and tries to get rid of him. But eventually, as the old fellow begins to talk, Strieber realises that the stranger has some very important things to say. The author then begins to transcribe notes onto a pad. The stranger stays for a period of half an hour (but perhaps as long as two hours - the time is uncertain to Strieber). Somewhere in between the stranger says his name is Michael, and that he is Canadian, but Strieber eventually comes to consider that, although human, he is not human in the ordinary sense, but some kind of spiritual messenger. The bulk of the relatively short book comprises the narrative of what happened that night. The Master has a clear agenda in revealing the information to Strieber. This is to help free mankind from its delusions. The stranger forecasts a grim future for mankind and the Earth if it cannot do this. The essence of the message is that the Earth is dying, and that humankind will soon be extinct if it does not acknowledge what is happening and rediscover its spiritual roots. All this probably sounds just as "loony" as Strieber's other books, such as Communion, where the author recounts alien abduction experiences. However, as an intuitive myself, quite a lot of the information in the book resonates with what I have seen and experienced intuitively. For this reason I believe that the book is well worth reading. A common theme in the Key is that the world is dying, and that the human race is in strong danger of becoming extinct. How much of this is a projection of Strieber's own fear and pessimism? Unfortunately many of my own recent intuitions suggest that Strieber may be on the right track. Strieber says that humanity is being placed under pressure by spiritual forces in order to accelerate its spiritual evolution. There is the suggestion that the dark forces at work in the world are actually helpful in the greater picture. This is an understanding that I share. Yet those same dark forces could also destroy us. At one point in his encounter with The Master of the Key, Whitley Strieber is told that: "The body of man is being altered so that the barrier that presently prevents you from knowing one another`s thoughts will fall. You are being put under pressure in order to increase the speed of your evolution. An attempt is being made to induce an evolutionary leap. Only desperation will do this. There will come a time when your planet is dying and you are dying, and you will see these aliens all around you. But they will not help you, no matter how hard you beg... Their inaction, however, is their help... they do it out of compassion, for without it you will not succeed in the mission of this age, which is to open the elemental body to ecstasy. Mankind, over the next two thousand years, is destined either to go extinct or ascend. The elemental body will become transparent to the radiant body, which will shine with the light of God." (37% on Kindle version) I find this passage to be a fascinating one, and I have some reasons to think that part or all of it may be true. Before you read on, do consider that there may be multiple "alien" and etheric influences on humanity at this time in our history, and I make no claims to know about all of them. Firstly, I have little doubt that there are "alien" influences upon the human collective mind at this time. I have had my own close encounter of the second kind (sightings) with UFOs, as I have written elsewhere, when I witnessed two completely different kinds of UFOs within an hour of each other on a single night, on the East coast of Australia in 1993. Perhaps the most amazing part of that story was that a clairvoyant friend of mine had told me to go out at 2.00 am that night because there would be UFOs about - and she was right! The first UFO was a large ball of glowing white light, while the second was a formation of read circles which flew right over my head, in a "V" formation. The final part of the passage above, where it talks about the coming "transparency of the elemental body", also makes sense to me. Presently humanity walks in darkness, blind to its radiant self. We turn away from ourselves and create "the shadow", by hiding from our light. We lie to ourselves and deceive ourselves almost completely. The way to become "transparent" is to turn ourselves inside out, to expose ourselves completely to the light, to the truth. It is guilt and shame, and the trapped pain of the emotional body that prevent this opening. At another level, societal and cultural mass delusion, along with government and organisational cover ups, work against the opening to truth. Most people are too busy fiddling with gadgets and making money to look within, or listen to Spirit. Conclusion Despite imperfections, "The Key" has more than enough stimulation, and more than enough useful information to make it a very worthwhile read for many spiritual seekers. Excellent! Good Read, Very Important!
The information herein is very simple to understand. "The Master of the Key" is very thorough. If you understand that there is no God, only Love, you'll see what he is saying. I'm reading it for a second time to get what I've missed on my first pass. A significant book. I highly recommend it. TaosGuy UPDATE: 4/18/2013 I've since read this book many times. I've learned to basically ignore Whitley and just read the Master. In early December, just before the great Winter Solstice of 12/21/2012, I shifted into a higher form of myself. I quickly learned that there is no Ascension... We are all Ascended beings. I became very powerful and my voice and mannerisms changed dramatically. One night my wife asked who she was it that she was talking to, as we were going to bed. I replied "You!" My regular self was in the background, so to speak... In the back seat. That answer makes sense since we have been together for Eons. We are truly in Love. At our Spirit level we are both male (positive) and female (negative) polarities. So we are of the same Spirit. So "you" is the correct answer. I died in 2006, April, Holy Thursday of Easter, of massive blood loss due to an advanced form of Leukemia. Cancer of the Bone Marrow. Over four years I was eaten alive, from the inside out and had lost half of my body weight. I was emaciated. There was no way for me to come back from death as I had no blood! Three days later I woke up to this world, although I was still in an elevated state. It was wonderful! I Loved everybody and everything unconditionally. I'm the only one in the world to have survived this cancer because it's so devastating. It was all happening over the Easter weekend. During the time I was gone I went directly up above all Creation. No tunnel, no deceased relatives, just before what I thought was God. It was what they describe as a Quantum Jump. At first I thought the energy was power but quickly realized that it was Love. The Love that I felt was unbelievable. I looked at this enormous Light Being and then looked at myself and it appeared that I was made of the same energy, the same stuff! There was nothing around us, but I had no fear of falling. It was just wonderful! I could look down and see all Creation... All of the Universes, all of the dimensions (Many Mansions) everything. And it was all driven by the Love that I was feeling. I was also given many gifts. Now, after my experience a few months ago, I believe that what I saw way back in 2006 was my higher self, not God. It was hard to accept but "they" showed me. I learned that there is only Love. There is no God per se, just this unbelievable Love that is behind everything. Everything! We are all part of this Love. Every last one of us. That there is no evil, just selfish choices. We are never judged. We judge ourselves in a very Loving way, just after death. At night "they" would give me lessons. Take me on journeys to other places. One night I must have been shown 20,000 examples that everything turns out for the Good. They were very adamant that I understand it. Everything is for the Good. There is only good because everything is Love. It's not God is Love, but Love is God. It's all One! All of the churches have bought into this view that God is vengeful. I think it's a good way to control people too. It's just Love. I can't say it enough. My father thought that he was going to hell. Poor man. His church had beaten him into accepting that he just wasn't good enough. We are all good. Most older people I meet, who are close to passing, are afraid because their God is going to judge them and they'll never measure up. They usually won't listen when I tell them that there is no hell or judgement. Just Love. What a shame. Will they get a surprise! After I had moved into this higher self I was at my doctor's office. All of a sudden the women in the waiting room started crying. A man asked, "What are you crying about?" The woman replied, "I've never felt Love like this before!" I had 15-20 people at a time come over to my house and I would help them understand. I had a lot of Power. It was hard to manage. If there is any evil it's our Ego. I saw my Ego as I was coming back to my body, just after Easter Sunday, 2006. It was a black, smokey mist. When it finally joined with me I was fully human again. please understand... our Ego is interpreted as the devil. always wanting us to do everything for ourselves, rather than giving to others. I've always tried very hard to remain humble, but as a human that is always a chore. I'm now 68 years old. I'm still fighting to get on my feet. Over the last 11 years I've survived 38 terminal illnesses. I endure because I believe! One night last Fall at 2:30am I went to the bathroom to relieve myself. I was in so much pain, horrible, and so weak that I fell onto the toilet breaking the seat. I was at the end of my rope. I was exhausted, depressed and worn out as I had not slept in a week. I looked up and told God to, "*uck you! Why don't you take me and then you can really punish me." All of a sudden there was the Christ standing in front of me. I looked away and then back again thinking I was hallucinating. But there He was, Jesus! He is so beautiful, but manly, very masculine. So Loving. He wiped away my depression and gave me a great sense of well being. He knows our trials because He is completely human. He understands our predicament here in the 3rd dimension. He promised to be always with us and He is. Are we Blessed or what? Thank you for sticking with me. I just wanted to add a few comments to my original review of the Key. But I seemed to have gotten carried away with myself. Sorry. Please understand. I just want people to know that we are all Blessed, very special. As it says in the Psalms, "Who are we that we are placed above the Stars!" UPDATE: 6/12/2013 I was just diagnosed terminal again with the same cancer. This time death will come quickly. I've been telling my wife that I was dying for the last two months. I need to cross over again to have a meeting with my Spiritual liaisons, then come back renewed and ready to help others through this important period of challenge. We are all Blessed. TaosGuy

A visitation to remember
Very unlike any book you have ever read. This unusual conversation with an even more mysterious visitor provides a stimulating, even titillating, smorgasbord of topics. The language is bold--there is a starkness and certainty here balanced with an undertone of subtle elegance. The unconventional fluency and felicity conveys ideas with a rare and independent precision. This style is often seen in works received from inner dictation. "You're chained to the ground" so begins Michael's interchange in this fascinating book. Most people don't think of themselves as living in a prison. This initial reminder is a blatant nudge to step out of the series of boxes that form the invisible walls we would prefer to pretend are not there. We construct a racial identity, a national identity, a spiritual identity and so on painting ourselves each time into a smaller and smaller microcosm that limits the vastness of what we could be. With each internal declaration of who we think we are comes a corresponding implicit condemnation of who we deny we are. So the rubs accumulate and the cell walls tighten. Each judgment of ourselves and others distances us from that unconditional existence which could free us if we had it. Thus the way we see and hear and live and think we know is automatically colored in a way that chains us invisibly to the ground every living moment. His guest is here to help us spring that trap if we will listen. He frequently speaks or our relationship to spirit in ways which are bound to challenge many to their limits and beyond. Fortunately, as a skilled interviewer, Whitley's boxes are bigger than most and he does not spend time nit-picking with someone orders of magnitude more aware of the universal clockwork with his own personal preconceptions. He draws Michael out in startling ways that will bewilder constrained minds and closed hearts. His wide ranging and persistent questioning reveals a surprising panorama of assertions. For example, since 1950 the U.S. black budget and Cold War activities have been responsible for over half a billion deaths. "A nation must face its sins just as an individual must. You must face the fact that the American intelligence establishment is just as rotten and just as evil as every other secret human government that has ever existed. You must expose all the secrets and make amends to the world. The United States owes Guatemala and El Salvador and Chile and Indonesia and Liberia and Cambodia and Vietnam and many other nations not a few foreign aid dollars, but a new life. This debt is both national and personal. Each one of you owes the whole debt, in full. You owe the victims of the Cold War a new life, and the keepers of the secrets must be put away or the nation will die. Right now, secrecy is murdering America." (eg Extreme Prejudice by Susan Lindauer) Interesting to compare this to a reminder from Harbinger prophet Cahn, a quote from Geo Washington "The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the external rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained." He offers prophecies about the climate, technology, the destiny of man as a new species and makes clear pronouncements about the need for a basic shift in consciousness. He reminds us: "God's love is not tame. Your love is tame. God's love is huge and passionate and wild. Fall wildly in love with everybody. Cherish all as the precious creations that they are." "Forgiveness is not an act. It is a state of being." I read this book at least once every year to help open my heart, inspire my mind and push myself to new limits of personal growth. Don't miss this one.

The Key: A True Encounter de Whitley Strieber
Deeply Mysterious and Spiritually Powerful The Key: A True Encounter is a thought-provoking and unforgettable read. Whitley Strieber shares a mysterious and deeply personal experience that blends the spiritual, metaphysical, and otherworldly in a way that stays with you long after you finish reading. The ideas presented are bold, challenging, and sometimes unsettling but always fascinating. Whether you believe every word or not, this book opens the mind to profound questions about life, death, and higher knowledge. It’s not just a story it’s an invitation to think differently about the world and your place in it. Highly recommended for seekers of truth, mystery, and meaning.

Dark & Disturbing
This could have been written for an episode of the Twilight Zone or even Night Gallery. Strieber is a smart author who knows how to leave his lead character a mystery. Is this "Stranger in the Night" his future self? An Ascended Master? A Space brother from another planet? Or just a figment of his imagination? Personally, I believe in Ascended Masters and benevolent ET's. As a hypnotherapist I know we can time travel in our dreams and/or in an alternate state. We are no doubt visiting other dimensions while we sleep. So, I find the premise of this book intriguing. I say Strieber is smart because he leaves the question of the strangers identity open and let's you fill in the blanks with your own beliefs. No one is offended and it keeps you reading. Quite a few of the ideas presented in this book are echoed in the work of various ET & A.M. Channeled books and youtube videos. ( Check out David Miller's Arcturian books, Barbara Marciniak's Pleiadian work, Patricia Cori's Sirian Revelations and Theosophy.) That doesn't mean it is fiction. While I find much of the channeled material fascinating and uplifting this book gave me the creeps. It's dark. Parts are very disturbing. Perhaps it's the authors intent to provoke you into action but I was left with a feeling of hopelessness. It bothered me for days. Still does, actually. So, yeah, he is a good writer. But my rule of thumb is to trust my intuition and stay away from anything I perceive to be of a lower vibration, negative or fear inducing. Material like this has a way of seeping into your subconscious just like the endless murder and violence of TV does. I'd rather read writers who offer solutions to the challenges we face on Earth today and leave you with a bit of hope and inspiration.

Interesting and profound
I always read books with an open mind and heart and , along with the well written content, both grammatically and syntactilly, if that's a word, makes for an enjoyably , enlightened read. The content , however, is profound and somewhat esoteric , which is how I perceive Mr. Strieber's mental and spiritual state as he remembers his encounter with the stranger who entered his room. I have read many, many books on new age material, and have found the material, in the book, to be somewhere between the basic and the most esoteric of books so it could appeal to both a person just starting the path to one who has already been started into the path and may need more nudging. It's a shame that many people scoff at Mr Strieber''s life experiences as they pursue their own limited and biased agendas on the subjects of ufo's and knowledge of the soul , but we are each on individual paths, some on congested highways, progressing, but ever so slowly thru a concrete scenery, or enjoying a scenic drive thru a winding mountain or ocean overlook , unimpeded , with a perfect breeze invigorating our hearts , mind and soul.

Excellent read!!
I want to thank Whitley Strieber for writing this book.It is a game changer on how we as humans need to 'step up' if we are to survive. Compassion for ALL things is the key. Though parts of what Michael said, leave me a little confused and unsure of it's meaning, I will certainly re-read this book to better understand. If anyone is interested in the ET phenomenon, I encourage you to read this book. Add it to your library. I have been following Mr. Strieber for many years now and will continue as long as he/I are able. Certainly there is much wisdom in the words he writes and I am eternally grateful for all he contributes in his writings; as I know the journey for him has been hard....especially from the ignorance of humanity. Keep writing Whitley! We need more books like this on knowledgable words to learn and grow as humans. Blessings to you, always!

hard core spirituality - don't overlook this book!
There have been a number of writers delivering 'channelled' material to the world in recent times - Gabrielle Bossis, Joseph Brenner, Eileen Caddy, Brian Cleeve, Helen Greaves, Ian Lawton, Dorothy Maclean, 'Two Listeners', Neale Donald Walsh, not to mention a large number of Marian visions. All of these writings need approaching with care and thought. Each seems aimed at a particular audience, though always with a central core seeking to persuade mankind (and individuals!) urgently to change its (their) ways. This particular book is aimed at a very particular readership - it contains talk of alien presence, government secrecy, intelligent machines, quantum physics, etc. - and yet I would urge anyone with any interest in hard core spirituality to give it a read. The heart of the book is a 100-page 'Conversation' with a night-time visitor to Strieber's hotel room. The surrounding chapters could make us think Strieber is merely having us on; yet the moment one reads the Conversation itself, one is gripped, and such questions don't matter. Indeed, the Conversation itself may at times seem to veer into regions that will not interest all readers; but I would urge people to stay with it, as within a couple of pages, something will have been said of the most powerful and urgent interest. Be warned that there are some pretty harsh messages amidst these pages, both about this life and the next, so if you're not up for this, give the book a miss. But then you will be missing some wonderful sentences: "God wants true companions, not supplicants." "Forgiveness is not an act. It is a state of being." "Unless you bear the kingdom within you, the kingdom will vanish from the face of the earth." [Of those who succeeded in transforming their deaths in the holocaust:] "They made of their suffering, with great effort, what one who attains the heart of a child may easily make of the drift of a cloud or the peaceful ringing of a bell upon a summer evening. ...It is easier to reach ecstasy through joy than through suffering." Christ, Mohammed and the Buddha are all embraced, though not necessarily the religions that have been formed around them. A certain respect is paid to Hinduism also. But the great stress is on surrendering to God, despite the need to operate in this world, squaring this seemingly impossible circle and acting without fear. That we are all one is very much to the fore. And it is described how we are imprinting our 'energetic bodies' with our experience at every moment, and how crucial it is that we do this with intensity and without the least trace of sin. The faculty of attention is stated as vital, and there are simple, easy suggestions for attaining this - meditate, becoming aware of physical sensation. "Find God within and the universe without" seems a first class motto. Another reviewer has rightly stated that what you get from this book will depend on what you bring to the table. Indeed, one of the American reviewers appears to me to have brought their own agenda to the table - I actually don't recognise the book from their review. We are indeed encouraged to have an observer's awareness of our experience, but is this "to have a strong sense of self"? The book actually carries the line, "To join God, you have to leave your self behind." Though I have only had this book for a couple of weeks, I am now beginning my fifth read of this conversation. Each reading takes me longer than the last, partly because I take time to consider and challenge every statement. (You will have your own opinions about the text.) But mostly I am slowed by having to stop and lay the book aside, so overcome am I by line after line. The text will not 'bite' for everyone; but if you have even the smallest interest in seeing if it may 'bite' for you, don't hesitate - buy! now!

Simply Brilliant
I first got into Whitley Strieber in the 1990s when I read a few of his "abduction" books, and I'll admit they really freaked me out. I'd had a close encounter experience (Not beings just craft) several years earlier which is what got me into the topic of UFOs when I inevitably came across Whitleys books like Communion, Confirmation and the Secret School. I didn't know what to make of the abduction phenomena although I thought most cases were probably non-sense. I was never sure about Whitleys experiences but they scared me nevertheless. I've always found him an interesting figure though and over the years purchased a few more of his books and was for a couple of years an active member in his online forum. Now with the background of how I came to this book out of the way I'll give my review. I didn't buy this particular book til last yr and only recently got around to reading it and I can sum it up in 2 words, SIMPLY BRILLIANT. It is like a self help spiritual guide book in many ways. I don't even care if the meeting with the guy in the hotel room ever actually happened or not because there is a lot of wisdom imparted in this book. Reminds me of something along the lines of Eckhart Tolle only more concise. Great book, would highly recommend it.
