Red Yeast Rice

A picture is worth a thousand words. My LDL has been creeping up. Last year (non fasting) it was 174. I modified my diet and 6 weeks ago (fasting) it was 162, slightly above the 159 cutoff. My PCP approved this RYR, and I’ve been taking a half dose, 1 capsule a day. I also take a CoQ10 supplement. After 6 weeks, I retested yesterday and my LDL and cholesterol in general dropped significantly.

My cholesterol levels have always been in the high side, and at one point, my doctor wanted to prescribe statins. I’m an acupuncturist and not a big fan of statins, so I opted for a custom herbal formula and decided to use this product along with it for the first month to give things a jump start. My total cholesterol dropped by 60 points within the month, and I had no side effects from the red rice yeast. I would definitely recommend trying this product before going on statins (which come with a long list of side effects).

This supplement is made in Japan and contains Co-Q10 which is important to take with a statin, natural or not. And this is a natural statin and it DOES WORK. 2 capsules, the recommended dose, give you 1200 mg - I took 1/2 THE DOSE every night for 5 months and my bad cholesterol dropped 50 points. I have tried prescription statin medication in the past and could not tolerate the muscle aching side affects. I can’t tell if this natural stain does the same thing because I ache all the time but it seems tolerable. I recently started taking a higher dose of CoQ10, in a separate supplement and that seems to be improving my overall aching and energy. I’m going to keep taking this but with even more CoQ10. My doctor is very pleased with my last blood test.

Red yeast rice is only slightly good for cholesterol . But the combination is good.

Dr. recommended to use RYR instead of a statin to see if that can lower #’s. These have no smell or taste, are an appropriate size and easy to swallow.

When I started taking this in September of 2025 my cholesterol was 239. I had blood work done today (6 months later) and my cholesterol had gone down to 190! This was without any major lifestyle changes.
