How this is different than Differin? What is the % of retinol? Thanks

Differin is the brand name for adapalene 0.1%, a synthetic retinoid. LRP also sells adapalene 0.1%. The difference in this is this product contains retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, and adapalene is a retinoid: the general term used for compounds that are vitamers of vitamin A. Retinol (what's in this product) to be effective has to be converted into retinoic acid by the skin by oxidizing retinol twice, adapalene on the other hand is instantly effective, making it far more potent. These compounds work by binding to the retinoid X receptor in turn (long story short) allowing general "anything" cells to become skin cells. This cream from what I've read is around 0.1% retinol, while diffirin gel (or LRP's adapalene) concentration of adapalene is also at 0.1%. Adapalene gram for gram is a more potent compound compared to retinol and will give you results far more quicker. Of course, due to this adapalene is harsher on the skin. Adapalene (contrary to common belief) is also effective as an anti-aging ingredient on top of being an anti-acne treatment and is a great OTC choice for addressing both concerns.

Would this work in conjunction with effaclar system?

You can use this anti-aging serum along with La Roche-Posay Effaclar Acne Treatment System at nighttime. However, we would first recommend trying layering the products together on a small patch of skin, on the side of the neck below the ear, to test your skin's individual response to the combination of the active ingredients. To use together, apply the cleanser first, followed by the toner, then Redermic R and finally Effaclar Duo on affected areas.
