Which surface of this antenna should face the sky ?

As far as the reception, either work well. I typically put the curved surface toward the sky. More for looks. Many times it has flipped and I never see an issue with reception.

Does this work for two-way satphone?

If the satphone has an MMCX connector and needs to receive a GPS signal, then probably. It's not made for that application, though.

I think i have the latest version of the case (has a hole for an external antenna), so how do i install this antenna? do i need to use the pigtail?

The short answer, yes. If I remember correctly the short ‘jumper wire’ you are referring to connects to the GPYes board and the other end goes into an existing hole in the case or to a hole you drill if there is not one in the case. Once installed you will have the external connection point for your external antenna.

I don't think so. It seems to be designed to mount inside the aircraft.
