Finally a portable with big sound and a good range. I am very happy with it!
Finally a portable speaker with big sound and a good range. I've tried any number of portable speakers over the years and have been generally disappointed with their sound and flimsy construction. The pill is far superior. I know it is more expensive but it is well worth the extra cost. Don't expect it to sound like a full sized stereo but it has the best sound I've heard for its size. I'm listening to my iTunes library with the pill connected to my MacBook Pro paired with Bluetooth. I'm sure it would work with most other vendor's equipment. If the Bluetooth doesn't work there is still a 3.5 mm connection. The Pill 2.0 has 4 speakers which can fill a small room over a large range, where you can actually hear the cracks of the cannon in the 1812 overture, and the pedal notes in Bach's Toccata in D minor. On the other end it gives a good sound for the piccolo solo in "Star and Stripes" and even stands up to the vocal gymnastics of Dame Sutherland in the Hoffman's "Les Oiseaux" (if it stands up to La Stupenda's voice it will reproduce any other singer). Even bagpipes and harpsichords sound decent. Classical guitar is just lovely, In the middle ranges it is robust. Such songs as "La Bamba" (Valens) and "Gloria" (Brannigan) and well as older big and jazz as well other contemporary music is very good. (I do not have any metal nor rap so I can't speak to them but I suspect the pill would not have any problem with them either). Using Blue Tooth I easily paired it with my iPhone, then my iPad, my iPod, and my MacBook pro. You can change the volume on the pill from your device up to 30 feet away (the range of Bluetooth). There is also a feature for answering and talking on cell phones but I have not tested that yet. The package contains the pill and case, a wall charger with a USB port 2.0 port, a USB 2.0 to USB micro cable for charging from you computer or the wall adapter supplied. It also has a stereo 3.5 male to 3.5 mm male stereo connection for input from such devices as cell phones, MP3 players, tablets, and computers and most anything like earphones, plugs with a 3.5 mm interface (Anyone have a Walkman?)There is also an output port for linking several together. Fully charged and using Bluetooth you need no cables; when the battery is depleted you can still use it with the charger attached. It is about the size of a hot dog bun and sturdily built. The front is metal mess and the back is a rubberized material. There are four buttons one/off, pairing/telephone functions, vol + and vol -. The front like flashes while pairing is list the the pill is on. In the back is a light that shows you if you are paired via Bluetooth. There is also a USB 2.0 port "charge out" for other devices at the bottom of the device. My only issue is that the case is not big enough to hold the cables and charger. But fully charged and with Bluetooth you don't need to carry them around. I'm not sure yet how long the charge will last but the specs it should be

Am very happy with my pill
So, these are a tad pricey. Okay, way pricey! Then again, I admittedly purchased this because, I am not an audiophile, I have beats headphones (which I love, btw), I love the sleek design, and I was able to purchase this device at a 25% discount. With regard to the latter, while I had been eyeing this device for quite some time, the price in relation to sound quality (or lack thereof) feedback (from other reviewers) was a huge deterrent. All in all, I am very pleased with this device. Here is why. It is small, sleek, unobtrusive, and works great with my various bluetooth devices. The bass is fine (for me), though, I did need to enable "bass boost" on my devices to remove the "tinny" sound. Also, the playback volume setup is a tad funky. For example, if I turn my device volume to high, and the application volume to high, unless I've adjusted the beats pill volume, it can seem like the volume output is extremely low. As such, I would advise playing around with all three volume adjustments (device, application, & pill). Fwiw, I have my beats & device volume set to max, so I can use my application volume control, to adjust the volume. As for bluetooth connectivity? The pill will disconnect if there is no bluetooth activity. For example, when reading news, and intermittently viewing streaming broadcasts, the pill will disconnect, requiring a manual re-connect. This behavior is unsurprising, as it is obviously designed to conserve the battery. And finally, while I considered other portable bluetooth speakers, their boxiness was a real put off. This device sports a sleek pill shape (as it's name obviously implies), with a softish smooth rubber backing, and a metal grill front. That being said, and imho, there is no real way tell whether this is the device for you unless you hold one in your hand and try it (and other bluetooth speakers) out at your local brick & mortar store. Which is what I did when it first came out. And, which is why I admittedly fell in love with and decided to buy this item. In the end, it is a personal choice. And I cannot say that I am the least bit disappointed with my purchase.

Great mini speaker!
So you are looking for a mini speaker? This may be the ultimate all-around choice. The music quality is very good. Like ANY mini speaker, the deepest thumps in your music will be a bit thin, but overall quality is very good for the small size. Price point may be high, but that didn't worry me as much. You can get a JBL or Jawbone cheaper, and they sound quite good as I have friends with both. But here is what you get with the Pill that makes it very cool: 1) Speaker phone capability 2) Charge out: use it to recharge your phone or mobile device when you need it. 3) Great look and feel 4) it makes these cool sound combinations when you turn it on and off. This sounds a bit trivial, but its sound combinations that kinda highlight the range of the speakers and you start enjoying the quick on/off beat. 5) very solid sound for mini speakers with a significant volume range. A friend of mine has the Bose, and it probably edges out the Beats Pill for overall sound quality, but at an even higher price point. CONS: The only one I note is that the power button is SENSITIVE. You can be carrying the speakers in your hand -- in the padded sleeve/case, and still accidentally turn this on. If its paired with your phone it will start blasting you playlist whereever you might be standing! Again, a minor concern considering the overall quality of the device. you wont regret it.

Extremely Disappointed for the $$$
I was in the market for a bluetooth speaker to clear my desk of cables. I ordered a few different speakers and these were the most expensive, but I ordered a pair for the stereo feature. After unpacking one and setting it up, boy was I disappointed! It sounded no better than a $49 Bluetune. I've had dozens of sets of speakers and headphones, both wired and wireless, over time and these by far were the worst for the price. I'll be honest they were very clear in the mids and highs, but didn't deliver anything near what I expected in the low range. I wasn't expecting thundering bass, but was willing to accept a little less due to their size and being wireless. What I wasn't expecting was a complete lack of bass. I had also purchased a $49 Bluetune and switched between the two and the Bluetune out performed these. I didn't even open the second one to try the stereo feature due to the disappointment. I knew by the sound of the one that I wasn't willing to drop $400 on a pair. I kept the Bluetune for travel, but have abandoned my search for a wireless desktop replacement. I guess I was expecting too much, especially for the price. Some may find the sound acceptable, but I do not.

Be Cautious - Good product but there may be a problem as a speakerphone
I bought a new Pill version 2.0 from Amazon, and I like it very much except for one problem - the speakerphone doesn't work. I have two earlier versions, pre 2.0, and they answer calls very easily and I really enjoy having a portable unit that serves as a music player and speakerphone. However my new 2.0 will pair with my Android Samsung Note 3, and it plays music very well, but it doesn't answer calls automatically or if I choose Bluetooth headset on my phone. I've tried restarting the phone and Pill, etc, but that hasn't helped and support was no help. I hope this is a passing problem, or I'll have stick with original version. By the way, the ability to use two Version 2.0 Pills as two speakers, mono or stereo, works very well! Makes a very effective, very compact portable speaker system, although the cost of two units is pricey.

Love this little Speaker
First of all I just want to say I love the shape, and the color. It looks so much better then a rectangle or square speaker. I connect to my mini ipad in the bedroom and carry the speaker out to the patio and listen to muscic while reading. My wife's computer is a desktop upstairs, she starts her musical videos and brings the speaker down to the kitchen when cooking. I'm not a good judge of sound, but it rivals anything else I've heard. I plug it in to the charger and daisy chain my ipad to charge it at same time. Easy to set up and use. Beats does everything right. Even the packaging is nice, I wouldn't throw away my box. Charger is color coordinated. Might buy another one for my wife so she doesn't borrow mine. Price is a little high, but shop around for specials.

Amazing Sound and Robust Features
I'm in awe of the amazing sound quality from this speaker system. Bluetooth Sync with my iPhone 4S was easy. The big surprise is using the Pill speaker for telephone conferencing. There is a built in microphone in the unit. Just push the "b" button to answer calls. I've also used it to make several outgoing conference calls. Bonus, it comes with a nice carrying case too which is probably a better way of taking it places than putting it into my pants pocket! Yes, I am happy to see you! Want to listen to some music? LOL

I'm surprised how disappointed I am in this product.
I just got in the Beats Pill the other day and have used it 3 times. The sound is pretty good. It is very easy to get crackling and it goes away when you turn it down but shouldn't it just not go up high enough to cause crackling. It makes it sound like the speaker is blown. Also, the battery life is 2-3 hours at most. I would have expected better. Maybe my expectations were unreasonable but if I had to do it again, I would have tried something else. Also wish it was a little louder but that is being nit picky. On the good side, the way it interacts with my iPhone 5 is great. When I get a call, it automatically switches from going through the speaker to the phone and is right back onto the Pill when I hang up. I hate talking on the phone through the bluetooth speaker and was glad it worked that way automatically. Works great with my computer as well. When it is not crackling, the sound is very good.

Great sound
Gives a really good sound for being so small, I've had it going for over 8 hours on a single charge. Great for outside the house or the beach can take it anywhere really

Would repurchase if I had more money !
The speakers are awesome! Although my mail man mixed the address up and delivered it to my neighbours I find that the speakers are great. I use them at work and they are great quality!
