This worked really well. It does need an additional weight around the stand base to keep the stand from falling over.

Mic booms are a great piece of gear--they put the mic right where you want it. Except for one annoying problem: Droopy Boom Syndrome. Not only is there never a good time for it, but it can be dangerous to expensive mics, which aren't designed for smashing onto the floor. Solution: Adding a counterweight or a sandbag. But they're heavy to drag around. Here's something that's lightweight, solves the problem and does it fast. It's called a "one-minute" solution. But after looking over the wordless instruction manual, I had this strapped on and Velcro-ed into position in less than a minute. Bottom line: It works, it's fast and the price is right.
