Excellent Lock
This lock is fantastic. We have had another lock of the same model for eight years and got a new lock for our front door, so we have the same model on the front and back. Setting it up is straight-forward, although you should download a full installation guide from the web. The abilities of this lock are numerous. You can change the beginning programming code to something memorable or keep what's provided. If you mess up with the codes, you can do a factory reset that will set the codes back to the originals at any time. (It's a good idea to keep a copy of whatever codes you use in a safe place). You can add, I think, up to 30 codes for different people, and the SmartThings app will keep track of which person opened the door when. It comes with a backup key if the electronics fail at any time. We created separate codes for the household members, as well as some temporary codes to give out to trusted people if they have to come to the house when we're away. And then any of those codes given out can be deleted as needed so they can't be used again. The WiFi app using a SmartThings hub is great - we can lock or unlock the door from anywhere, so if any friend calls us when we're away, we can let them in the door at any time if we feel they should have temporary access. It works with Alexa, so we have routines that will automatically lock the door at bedtime if we forget. When we get back from grocery shopping we can unlock the door before carrying all the bags to the door, so there's no fumbling for a key or typing a number while carrying a bunch of things. We just open the door. This lock is simply terrific.

Nice lock that works with my Smartthings HUB and can be controlled remotely
I have used Schlage combination locks before, but this is my first "smart" lock. There are a few to choose from, depending on your needs. This one uses Z-wave wireless to talk to a HUB that supports Z-Wave. (Hubs centralize your smart home automation and have advanced capabilities that non HUB automation may not provide.)I have a Samson Smartthings HUB to control my house smart activities. The Pros:The lock is beautiful. Very eligant and was the style I was looking for.Schlage locks are known for the best in class security.Uses Z-Wave and works with Smartthings hub. (Z-wave is low power so batteries last longer)Easy to install. It simply replaced my previous deadbolt. I spent no more than 15 minutes installing.Connected to my Smartthings HUB with no issues.Add and remove codes remotelyYou can unlock and lock the door remotely, on a schedule, or some event that your HUB handles. You can have lights or other devices turn on or off when lock is locked or unlocked if you want (controled by HUB).Con:Cost.Instructions for connecting to Smartthings HUB are to minimal. There was conflicting methods from included instructions and online manual.I found no documentation from Schlage or Smartthings on how to setup the lock so I can enter combination codes on the lock from the Smartthings application. The default configuration will only allow lock and unlock from the Smartthings applications and to view the locks current status ( locked or unlocked).I knew that I should be able to manage the lock codes/combination from Smartthings. After lots of searching I found someone on YouTube that walked though the steps to setup codes. Now when someone enters a code to enter the door I am notified on my phone and the name I associated with the code is displayed, so you could know which family member, worker, etc just entered.I would recommend this lock, I will be buying more.

Stylish modern upgrade to any front door
I wanted a smart lock solution for our vacation home and after a lot of searching this one fit the bill. We have a major security provider and I wanted a smart lock that would integrate with their system's control module and our smart home hub. Schlage's z wave makes it very universal to communicate with multiple systems but confirm compatibility first. The second reason for this was Schlage states this deadbolt is bump resistant and it can be used with an old fashioned key. The piece of mind of using a key in the event of battery loss, frozen weather, etc. is a huge plus in my book. Another great feature is the built in alarm, so even if the main system goes down this can be a backup for the front door. My wife loved the overall look and the fit/finish is top notch and matches our home decor exactly. Installation was easy and we added secure deadbolt striker plates with 3" screws. Make sure to align everything before cutting (measure 3 times, cut/drill 1 time) and putting it is is easy. It uses standard batteries which is also a big plus. After 8 months the batteries are still going strong. The key pad looks great and once you know how to turn on the light it is easy to use in the dark. You can program in multiple codes so you can keep track of who is opening the lock.Pros- Looks great, heavy and good quality frame and components.- locking mechanism is solid and operates smooth (but noisy as others have noted)- can operate as a smart lock or a dumb lock or anything in-between (can be locked from inside with a mechanical dial)- battery life is long, even with a month of below freezing temps the same set of batteries is going strong 8 months later- integrates with multiple smart systems. I can geo-fence the lock to unlock when I am in the driveway, remotely lock/unlock, and control from my primary alarm system provider's app and base station- physical keys work perfect- lighted keypad for night, but you need to know how to turn them on- supports multiple pins for different users, can be used with smart systems to know who is coming/going- easy to install and setup, had it installed into a brand new door in just under an hour and programmed in 30 minCons- locking/unlocking is loud (the motor that operates the mechanism), this can be a plus if your want audio assurances but it can be jarring late at night/early in the morning (but you can use a key or the knob if you want to be quiet)- deadbolt alignment is an absolute must, any resistance or alignment that causes rubbing or binding will make the locking/unlocking problematic, this is why we installed the heavier duty deadbolt striker plate with deadbolt channel- z-wave is more open source, however you have to take the cover off to put the lock into paring mode which makes hacking it very hard to do without physical access to the back cover- keypad night light isn't intuitive to use, press the Schlage logo, we mitigated this with smart light-bulbs on the porchOverall, we are supper happy with this lock. My wife loves the look and feel, I love the security features and reliability. I highly recommend this as it can be used with keys and without smart feature just in case. It stays connected to my alarm system and smart home hubs without any issues. Even though we have an alarm system this holds the extra layer of security knowing if anyone tries to bump it or kick the door in an additional alarm will go off and notifications sent.

Doesn't work very well
We had a 15-year-old Schlage lock on our front door that stopped working last week, so I ordered this SCHLAGE BE469ZP CAM 716 unit, which costs three times more than the best-selling digital lock on Amazon, to keep things compatible and uniform. I am a pretty good DIY person with a college degree. I downloaded the manual from the Internet to read and took the old lock out and put it back in twice successfully to practice for the installation. The unit arrived the next day without the backup key, a significant disappointment, but not a deal-breaker for me yet. The only manual was a tiny booklet (4”x4” size with 10 pages including the covers) with simplistic but clear instructions. The new unit looks well-made from the outside, but the internal parts are flimsy for an expensive lock. The installation was effortless at first, but the final part was connecting the tailpiece with the slot in the back of “the inside assembly”. Something was wrong with the “thumbturn” setup, so it can only work if we turn the “inside assembly” sideways. I spent two frustrating hours on a Saturday afternoon struggling to get it to work, but couldn’t. The next day, I tried again and called for support, but it was closed on Sunday. I called them again on Monday, but gave up after waiting for over 30 minutes. It seems like Schlage is a good brand, and its locks are installed all over my neighborhood in the SF Bay Area. However, my experience with installing this lock was quite disappointing. I have to give it 1 star as a warning to other customers. I will return this worthless unit to Amazon and get a working one at Home Depot.

Paired with Brinks system but does not have full functions.
I have an alarm system that was ATT and then turned into Brinks. The door lock I had was showing its age and has been giving me issues. Use to ATT would swap them out but Brinks does not do that. Instead of buying another of the same, which I have had I think 3 over the years, I decided to branch out and try something else.I went with this one because it better matched the shape of my door handle. The shape and color is much better. The unit itself is heavy and feels much better built that the Yale I had. The gears seem stronger with less slope. The lock also seems much stronger and though it is also much louder I don't mind. I am actually hard of hearing so the louder function and the flashing green check on the front are better for me making it easier for me to know the lock has locked. I couldn't always tell on my last one and would have to try the door. Not with this one.As for adding to my system it was not a terrible job but I found that this lock does not give the same features as the other. Mainly I can not see who is putting their code in to unlock the door like I could with the other. This one also can not be set up to disarm the alarm when a code is entered. Neither are a huge deal but I don't see why it can't have that ability. I can unlock and lock it through the alarm app so that is really the main thing needed.I also like that the batteries on this one has a cover that just lifts off and does not have a screw holding it. Then you can pull the battery holder out and change them. It just slides right in the top which I prefer from the front loaded one I had.

These are great locks
These locks are super easy to install and set up. We have the RING alarm system, and it integrates perfectly with it. Once installed on the door with included hardware, put batteries in, went into the Ring app and set it up in about 3 minutes. We already have one of these on another door, so we just transferred the settins (codes, etc) to this one and now the 2 of the operate exactly the same, and allow us to arm, disarm, the alarm, set specific codes for specific people, etc.The locks look good too, especially from the outside. On the inside of the door, they are a bit larger than many others I have seen, but I have had such great success with my first one that I wasnt going to try anything else.I do not use the built in alarm function because I have it automatically connected to my in home alarm. Also, interestingly, once I had it set up in Ring, I did not have to do anything more, my Alexa immediately recognized it allowing us to ask Alexa remotely if the door is locked or have Alexa Lock it. It will NOT unlock the door for safety and security reasons.

Nearly a year later, we're happy.
We installed these on all of our exterior doors ten months ago, and these locks are as-advertised. The locking mechanism is smooth and reliable, and they look good as well. The Z-Wave integration was a bit finicky and I often encounter problems when remotely setting new user codes, but by and large these have been a non-event.All three locks are on the original batteries ten months later (more on this below), and only the oft-used front door has dropped below 80% battery. Our home automations cycle these locks regularly, and we've never had issues with lost connection or failed network commands. Some cons: Adjustment and proper "tuning" of the door is absolutely critical. If the placement of the deadbolt is not absolutely perfect, you will be miserable -- the motor is not strong and it will eat through the battery in mere days. This was my initial experience before I educated myself on the experiences of others. I can absolutely confirm that adjustment and clearance must be correct; any significant contact with the deadbolt striker during mechanism movement will cause problems. Adjust the position of the closed door at-rest during the installation, and take the time to get it right, and you'll be happy.Separately; the plastic on the keypad face is faring poorly in direct sun. At this rate, the plastic face will require replacement next year; it is already degrading and flaking around the edges. That's normal in my desert southwest environment, though disappointing.Overall , we've been very happy with this purchase. Once we had it set up properly, they have worked every time, reliably, and without fuss or tinkering. The best measure of a smart-home integration success relates to how much time you spend supporting your tech. I've spent virtually none (remote user code changes via z-wave network excepting). It just works.

Works with Alexa and Ring in Canada
My experience is way better than these 1-star reviews. For me this model of schlage DOES pair up with my Ring Alarm Base Station properly. Took a few minutes to sync and was visible on the Ring APP. I also had instant abilty to lock and unlock via Alexa on my echo 8. Oh and yes I'm in Canada. One thing other reviews haven't mentioned, this could have something to do with it but a complete guess. Alexa Guard Plus from what I remember only currently works in the USA not for a Canadian Address. I did switch my home address over to a US Address which activated Alexa Guard and switched it back later. I haven't lost the functionality just checked the alexa app it's still there and logging alarm events. I never went back to use the features like activity sounds with sirens or dog barking sounds or away lighting. Not something I was interested in least not yet. MAYBE that's why alexa allows me to lock and unlock this Schlage unit?? Just something for those out there to trouble shoot if they don't have success with other suggestions. I didn't configure or use a schalge skill or another app with alexa than ring which was already connected.Much like other reviews suggest I made sure that the name of the door lock didn't conflict with other devices attached to my alexa or attached to my ring alarm base or lights or speakers or whatever.I also haven't seen anyone mention how this lock works with the Ring Alarm System / Base. I'm very happy that I can lock and unlock and see status of the lock in the ring app on the dashboard. My family painfully leaves this particular door open all the time and I'm the warden walking the halls at night locking the place up. I didn't know for SURE that i could program the lock to disarm the alarm mode once the correct keycode is entered and door unlocks. That's a good feature one less thing to worry about. Makes it easier for the cleaners and the kids coming home from school for example. If you're using the ring alarm app, once the lock is connected it synced the alarm codes over to the door lock. If there are users setup it syncs which is very cool. Saves programming and matches the alarm so there aren't two numbers to remember. I assume as you add new users it syncs to the door.I also swear the door auto-locked at one point which I'm not sure yet how I feel about that. I read somewhere it is a feature and you can disable that if I'm not crazy and it actually did auto-lock. I opened the lock and watched it like a toaster and it never auto locked again. One of the kids I haven't yet given a door code / alarm code he's too little. Only scenario I can think of is if he went outside, it auto locks he has no abilty to get back in. He's not exactly running around by himself but it could present an issue if he locks himself out. I will figure out how to disable if it really works that way or just deal with it.Something to note, once it was installed it wasn't obvious to me at least how to lock the door from the outside. I upgraded from a weiser electronic keypad that had the plastic buttons and a LOCK button. So I thought you had to key the code in to lock and unlock. Instructions didn't say otherwise least I couldn't find it. Upgrading from weiser where there was an easy one button lock function this was going to suck if we had to punch a keycode felt like a let down. I googled it and found an install video where a guy hit the schalge logo to LOCK. JACKPOT locks one button logo on the keypad.Install wasn't too bad but I did have a bit of a moment where I thought it wasn't going to work. The deadlatch (I think it's called) the part that goes into the door had the plate which rests on the side of the door and the deadbolt comes out of. I couldn't see any obvious way to remove it without prying it off and my doors all have the cylinder hole not the plate with screws. So I broke down and read the instructions no mention. I saw the QR code and watched the install video and it showed how to remove it (by prying a screwdriver into it) and put the cylider cap piece on. After rummaging through the parts plastic bag I could see it. So It wasn't totally obvious, one mention in the paper instructions could have saved me grief and I could see someone giving up and returning if they didn't take the time. One final note, the inside door latch is up when unlocked, and left to right when closed. It drives me CRAZY that our newer house with Weiser locks it's the opposite way. I'm used to the common sense of plumbing or gas if the handle is across the pipe it's shut off. I've not been able to figure out how to convert existing weiser locks to the same orientation so I might move to schalge. Maybe they have a patent or something its just a small thing that I prefer and bothers me.Overall happy with the upgrade, the quality, the install. Got some bonus features mentioned above that hadn't completely realized and was a win. I wish I could rekey the lock easy like the weiser locks do, but I've never carried a key to my house since these were installed so it might not really matter.

Beware - doesn't work in Australia
I don't believe the z-wave radio on this device is tuned to Australian frequencies. I was not able to pair to home assistant at all, under any conditions. All manuals are USA/CAN, so I'd be very surprised if it was an Australian z-wave radio. Shame!
