NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The wise, moving novel from Danielle Steel, whose many bestselling tales have made her one of America’s favorite authors Taking chances is part of life, but when you bet your future against the odds, it’s a high-risk game. Kate Madison’s stylish resale shop has been a big SoHo success, supporting her and her four kids since her husband’s untimely death. Now her children are grown and ready to forge lives of their own. And they all choose to play against the odds, to their mother’s dismay. Isabelle, a dedicated attorney, is in line to make partner at her Wall Street firm when she falls for a client she represents in a criminal case. She tells herself she can make a life with him—but can she? Julie, a young designer, meets a man who seems too good to be true and falls under his spell. She marries him quickly, gives up her job, and moves to Los Angeles to be at his side—but is all what it seems? Justin is a struggling writer who pushes for children with his partner before they’re financially or emotionally ready. Will the strain on the relationship take too high a toll? And Willie, the youngest, a tech expert, makes a choice that shocks them all, with a woman twelve years older. Kate—loving, supportive, and outspoken—can’t keep her children from playing against the odds. Can the odds be beaten? Not often—as her children have to learn for themselves. For Kate, the hardest lesson will be that she can’t protect the children she loves from the choices they make—but can only love them as they make them. Review: Another Great Read! - I really enjoyed Against all Odds by: Danielle Steel. The characters were introduced to the reader that I felt as if I really did know them. I would definitely recommend this book. Review: Modern day family dysfunction, survival and 2nd chances - This did not disappoint as compared to some of the other novels Danielle Steel has turned out in recent years. I've often been disappointed in little plot and repetitive writing of recent years. However, though this is not her excellent "Family Album" novel, it is true to modern day families, where there seems to be a lot of turnover in situations. The mother, like all moms, has raised 4 kids as a widow. She is overly concerned about each of their personal choices, more than their career choices. Often she is proven right in her concerns, but she has to learn to let them make their own mistakes and find a way to go on. Each one of her kids represents a situation typical in our society today, from the successful daughter who is an attorney marrying an addict, the gay son and surrogacy , the dyslexic daughter in an abusive marriage , and the other son dating an older woman. There is a lot of love and hope found in each of these children's problem and solutions found. All these topics/marital problems are very prevalent today. It was a good escape reading from all the political news and worries these days.

Loved this
I really enjoy reading stories about families. This one did not disappoint. Kate was widowed at 29 with 4 young children. The books begins with the kids in their 20-30's . They are all into something which is what I was hoping for. Different thoughts on life, different jobs and to Kate's chagrin, they all ideas on who to marry and when to.have children. I had fun reading this book.

Another Steel book to love!
Details, family, kids and relationships are everywhere in the book! I enjoyed each character and the lives and descriptions of each. Very true to life and could take place in any city, not just New York City. I loved it!

Good Read better than a few of her previous books.
It was a good book. A lot of filler wording but I still recommend. I love her earlier work more. But get it anyway. You'll like it.

It was ok
I was a bit disappointed - thought I was purchasing a 'new' copy. Especially for the price. It was a bit of a let down to pay the price for a used book - given the jacket cover was kind of grungy and the former owners name is in the front cover. It's my own fault - I loaned MY original copy to someone and it somehow never returned, being the reason for a replacement purchase. Oh well. Live and learn. And don't loan your books!

always so engaging, can’t put it down
I love Danielle Steel’s books. They are all so different in the details and how she describes each character I really feel like I know all these people. I always have to give myself time between books so I can absorb and enjoy and not mix them up. I hope you never stop writing notebooks

Against All Odds
Against all Odds é uma estória comum que geralmente vemos acontecer. O que ajuda é a narrativa da Danielle Steel onde ela enfatiza o que pode acontecer a qualquer ser humano mesmo sendo de uma formação e classe social elevada. Uma estória simples mas onde ler vale sempre a pena.

Another superb read
I loved this story. Danielle's writing kept me engaged from the first page until the last page. Relationships between the family members and their respective partners are at the core of this well written story. Thanks.

大変ユーニクな作品でしたので、作者にコンタクトして感想を送付しました。 彼女の作品は既に60冊以上読んおり、最近はKindle で文字を拡大して、単語の解説 付きで読みやすいので再読しています。
