Brilliant, worth it even if you have the older b&w editions.
I'd say buy both the b&w and the full colour editions as you'll get a somewhat different reading experience. The colour is great but the shadows of the original b&w editions do hit differently. If you already own the b&w editions then yes it's still worth getting this colour edition. The story and pacing alone throughout the series is worth it anyway!

emotional resonance
Hitoshi Iwaaki does an adequate job in making the stakes feel more real for Shinichi as well as for the reader, but he passes on a lot of obvious emotional resonance the events so far might have induced. The third volume is a bit erratic and the heavier atmosphere and a sense of authenticity are overshadowed by uneven plotting. Still, the overall tone works and this series manages to steer clear from the narrative trapholes the fundamentally campy premise of the tale entails

The full-color series is good
The story is interesting. With the mother of the protagonist gone, it was quick for the protagonist to pull himself together, while his father is dejected. The fact that the protagonist could get himself together that quickly means that his brain is affected? Cannot wait to read on.
